hot fun in the wintertime

it's been nice up here in ventura: christmas, family, nodoz, and a new hour of power (movies with jackson from 2:00-5:00 am as a way of passing time). i got 60 dolares to itunes (along with some other sweet swag) and am now listening to about 66 dolares worth of music.

i finished up my purchases this morning. last year with a similar bounty, i bought the modern lovers/ stooges self-titled... and a bunch of single oldies from the 50s that KEARTH doesn't play anymore.

anyhow, my new albums:

moby grape- self titled
imagine album
laura nyro- eli and the thirteenth confession
the young rascals- groovin'
george harrison- living in the material world
mitch ryder and the detroit wheels

my new single songs:

two ringo songs: it don't come easy, you're sixteen
kokomo- beech boyz
a world without love, i go to pieces- peter and gordon
liberty valance- gene pitney
the beat goes on, baby don't go- sonny and cher
good lovin', how can i be sure, a beautiful morning- the rascals/ young rascals

it was pretty overwhelming. i still can't imagine people having time to digest the latest and greatest (that might not be that great) when there are so many fantastic records from yesteryear. just missing the cut: songs of leonard cohen, blondie, fairport convention, a monk album, a mingus album, and a lefty frizzell greatest hits.

and... from the patterjenster:

fun baby ideas!

After your new love-affair with Ringo, I decided to go to Amoeba. I purchased "Blasts from your pasts", a Ringo album filled to the brim with goodness. You should take a listen to the "No No Song". Hope all is well with your family up in hobo jungle.
