Joe Torre declared Nomar Garciaparra the favorite to start at third base over Andy LaRoche. "Being the veteran guy, he has the inside track in being the starting third baseman," Torre said. Torre said he could tell LaRoche has been a bit anxious during the intrasquad games.
This might be a motivational tool for LaRoche, or it might be reality. But the end of March is still 32 days away. A track is just a track, and the outside track is still a track.
and juan pierre is still living in left field with an inside track on being the most useless left fielder in history. i am a redsox fan now. or at least a fan of my fantasy team(s). ned colletti can go sit on a used scalpel.

i somehow missed the boat on the whole yahoo league thing. i guess that's what i get for living on the other side of the country.
maybe colletti is like that chick in 'major league.' next the dodgers will sign pedro sorano, willie mays hayes, ricky 'wild thang', dorn, and jake.
he'll probably sign the real versions of those players like they are now.
