as i write this, i'm waiting for my wife to come home with some beer to go with the fajitas i made. i'm a big fan of fajitas and cooking in general.
i'm watching malcom x. good, but a bit long. i really like spike lee, but this is just bla. though the early scenes of his younger life were interesting, this films like an excerpt from a high school history book. biopic 101.
the fajitas are getting cold and i can't think of anything important. drew, i'll email you back shortly as this is not my computer and i'm running short on time. um... i'm reading rabbit at rest. that rascally rabbit is still not nice. i'm listening to jazz on random so i'm getting a healthy dose of bix, benny, ray, miles, ornette, thelonious, mingus, satch, dave, etc.
i like dave brubeck, though he's probably the biggest dork in jazz. just look at the list above- what name doesn't fit? dave. yes, dave brubeck is a dork. but one of his frequent collaborators is a gloyd. seriously. out.
food time.

hi jesse. i like do the right thing. i just saw it for the first time a few weeks ago, and i thought it was just great. i agree that dave brubeck is a big dork, though i like him just fine in spite of his dorkness. in one of thomas merton's books, he talks about his pre-conversion days, and how he was a big jazz fan. he liked "good jazz" though, and not "white jazz" like dave brubeck. you know you're a dork when a hermetic monk questions your coolness.
I recommend watching Anne Frank: The Missing Link. It's a documentary about the life of Anne Frank containing a convincing argument that Anne Frank is "the missing link" in Darwinian evolution.
